Explore with Me the Length and Breadth of a Peaceful City Lachen - North Sikkim, India 🇮🇳 (My Sikkim Diary #05)

Hi there 😊, I hope you all people are doing well. So buckle up and be ready for another amazing tour.

On my fifth day I decided to explore the Northern part of Sikkim state. So I started my journey from Gangtok city. Firstly I wanted to visit a beautiful and peaceful Lachen city. I have heard that this city is so unique and peaceful and heavenly beautiful like out of the world 🌎. So I was dying 😭 to go there.

Lachen city, North Sikkim, India 🇮🇳

Where did I start my journey:
I woke up early in the morning and hired a car 🚗 from hotel SherE-Punjab 🏨, Gangtok city. It took 4 hours and 38 minutes. The roads on mountains are very zigzag and tricky, only a skilled driver can handle it.

Chunghathang Road, the road going through clouds. But there were so many tourist cars and I had to stuck in a traffic jam. There is no word I could express my feelings. So l got down from car and took some photos. After a while the road was clear and started my journey again😌. I was touched by the chilled morning breeze frequently. I got frozen.

My destination, Lachen city:
Lachen is a town town in North Sikkim state in India 🇮🇳. It's located at an elevation of 2750 metres. The name Lachen means big pass. This city is being promoted by the Sikkim government as a tourist destination.

Woden homes, panoramic views of the mighty mountains and alpine pastures define Lachen as a Switzerland of India 🇮🇳. It's an unexplored land and one of the most peaceful small cities. I enjoyed solitude and heard the sound of this heavenly place. Also Yaks and sheeps are common animals here. You almost find it everywhere in Sikkim.

I stayed in Lachen city. I booked a small room here, it was not a hotel. Native people rent their house for tourists with a budget price.There are so many beautiful places here to visit. But the weather was not good. So I stayed in my room. I was hungry though and I had food with my house owner's family. They cooked hoi hoi ( a local dish), chapati, lentils curry and some unknown vegetables. It was so warm in cold weather. I enjoyed my food 😉. It was delicious and had a vibrant unique taste that I hadn't had before. After finishing my food I went to sleep because it was freezing cold outside and due to rain and slight snowfall the road was closed. I had nothing to do. So I slept early because the next early morning I had a plan to visit another place in Lachen city.

Note📝:
You need special permits to go to North Sikkim because it's near to Chinese border.

There is an army base camp here, you can buy your necessary stuff.

Yak and sheeps are common animal here so, milk products like cheese and meat 🍖are collected from them.

Everything here is freezing cold, so don't forget to pack some winter clothes, mountain boots and raincoat.
