Why High School Friends Are Gems

High school friends are the best ones! Ask me why.

There are many reasons why I consider my high school friends a lifetime treasure. They are not just gems to me, but they made my life more bearable, especially when I went through my darkest times.

I still remember all the happy and unforgettable memories I had in high school. It seems to have planted itself to the bottom of the core. When we were in high school, laughter was everywhere, and life was still not as difficult as it is now. There is a vast difference between the time adjustments and the problems we face. It was all different back then.

I thought we were always like that. I figured we could always be the same as we were when we were still young. But, NO! Life has other plans and made us realize that high school was just a fleeting experience. It will pass by.

As time passed by, we somehow forgot the bond we had. We were placed on different pedestals, and our paths led us to become parallel with each other. We often see each other. We planned bonding sessions, but they always led to “Oh!” I forgot.” In short, we were now so busy and focused on our lives that we had become unrecognizable from our former selves.

I missed how my high school self would become so crazy and talkative in front of her friends. I missed how she yapped all the things in her mind, not minding the possible consequences. I miss her with them.

One afternoon, we were having a school event at our university. Since it was a university-wide event, all students were affected. Thus, we chatted with our friends on Messenger who were in the same school as we were, and we finally met up. Finally! Finally!

We met up on the ground of our sports complex. It was a football field, so we had the opportunity to sit and observe the surroundings while talking about how we were and how life had been for all of us. Truly, I miss this kind of conversation, where we laugh heartily, not minding who might hear us. We also took pictures as remembrance. It was, all in all, so good to be with them once again.

Our little yet worthwhile meet-up was memorable. My mouth was sore from laughing so hard, and my eyes were welling up with tears from happiness. I just hope one thing. I hope that in the future, we can still have the opportunity to gather like this, where we can talk and have fun in our own little ways.
