Sanando y buscando la paz. [Esp-Eng] ❤️🇻🇪

When we experience a traumatic situation, it's normal to go through a period filled with many conflicting emotions; our body and mind go into survival mode.
Part of us continues to perceive danger, continues to feel that the situation that caused the trauma is still present. For example, in Venezuela, a large part of the country recently experienced an earthquake; it's normal to feel like the ground is shaking at certain moments. Others who recently experienced floods; it's normal to feel like it's going to flood again if it starts to rain or if the sky turns gray.
It's not that we're crazy or traumatized; it's that our brain is irritated by the situation we just experienced. So, we analyze everything around us, we scan it, and we find situations of danger. But another part of the brain remains logical and constantly shows us our reality. These intense, contradictory thoughts and feelings keep us tired and on high alert.
That's why at times we may feel immensely tired, sleepy, fatigued, exhausted but unable to sleep; we may feel like crying, we may feel anger, but we may also be immensely grateful to be alive, for our family or for our possessions; we may feel guilty for not doing more or for having what others don't have... These contradictory feelings are normal in this situation; you are not weak, you are not dramatic, you are not cruel, you are a normal human being who is going through a traumatic process.
The most important thing to break out of the autopilot mode we're in is to accept our feelings and our reality. We shouldn't look for logical answers; nothing here is right, there's no pattern, and no set time to get out of this situation. We are living through a collective and individual process, one that is extremely traumatic.
Will you get through this? Of course, we all will, but every process has its own rhythm and time. We are processing what happened, we are readjusting to this new reality, and we are learning... Today, each of us is stronger than before, more resilient, and more experienced. Yes, we may feel fear, confusion, doubt, anger... Everything we feel is valid and doesn't diminish our great value, our resilience, our courage, and our solidarity.
Many of us were able to make a donation, contribute; others went out to distribute food, to give away their clothes; others went out to rescue people and pets; others shared information on social media, some in Venezuela, others outside the country, but all united by a cause. This shows that together we can overcome anything, even survival mode.
We must be aware that we are living through difficult times, times of great noise and information overload, so we must find a way to connect with ourselves, to seek peace. I know it's not easy, but we can find a balance because we deserve tranquility and to step out of survival mode. This doesn't mean we'll stop hurting, or that we'll turn the page, but we need to find our peace.
We cannot feel guilty for wanting to move forward. It's necessary to advance so we can help, so we can rebuild the country and our souls. This is a process, a learning experience, and little by little we will move forward. The important thing is that we will do it all together. We must heal, seek peace, and find natural balance.
