Doing stuff in the greenhouse

Hello, steemians! Welcome to my page, eh!

The sun was shining brightly when I got out of bed today, at about 1:30 pm or so...
Because of the sunshine, I knew that the greenhouse would be warmer than the outside air this afternoon, so after my 3 or so cups of coffee, I decided to go out and see how nice it was in the greenhouse. I've been waiting for a sunny day to go out there and do a couple of things, it's always easier to do stuff when it's not so cold.

It was about mid 20s F outside, but it was about 46 in the greenhouse when I got out there about 3 pm. I decided that I might as well make a fire in the old cast iron coal stove that I have out there. I just burn wood in the stove, that works well enough for my use. It didn't take long to get the fire going. That always helps to warm it up a bit more in the greenhouse.

I have a bunch of little chunks of pine that I chopped up several years ago for a pot belly stove with a small door. They work for this stove, but they burn up fast, so I decided to get some firewood from the pile out in back of the garden wall. I had to get the sliding door on the back of the greenhouse open far enough to carry in some firewood.

And then I had to dig the firewood out of the pile to bring it into the greenhouse.

I only brought in a few armfulls because I have to clean out a space to put the firewood. Of course, I should have done that before it started snowing, but I didn't. Never do today what you can put off for another day, you know...

The main reason that I went out to the greenhouse was to put a bigger lightbulb into the lamp that kees the water from freezing in the pond fish tank Since I don't trust the clamp that comes with the light to keep the light fixture out of the water with the heavier bulb, I decided to hang the light from a roof brace over the tank. I had to rearrange some of the foam insulation board to hang the lamp, but that was pretty simple. I ended up with this arrangement.

Once I got the bulb into the socket and plugged it back in, I could see that I had the light in a pretty good position over 1 end of the tank.

I had to rearrange the foam insulation board pieces a bit to get the top of the tank covered back up for now. I still need to do a bit of work on the top insulation, but I need more insulation board to finish that.

It ended up being a good afternoon for me. I was in need of a mood booster and that worked pretty well. I got to chop a bit of wood for kindling for next time, and I did some clean up and rearranging in the back of the greenhouse so I have a place to pile some more firewood in case I want to have more fires in the stove. There's no point in trying to keep the greenhouse warm all the time in the winter, but it is a good way to spend an occasional afternoon.

Well, that's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!

Thanks for stopping by my page and checking out my post, eh!
