Housework, a matter for everyone [WEEK 167]
Ahoy, mate! I hope you have already recharged your batteries to start a new week.
Here you can see me living the good life while my partner does all the housework at home.
Hahaha, just kidding, the picture is from a beach day we had with the family this Saturday. A trip, by the way, that I invited myself on with my rescued hives, of which I am very proud.
Of course, having taken Saturday off from the beach, I spent all of Sunday cooking, preparing meals for the whole week.
So, to pick up on the theme suggested by Galenkp for the Weekend Engagement, I can tell you that I may not live the great life of comfort and laziness as shown in these photos, but I am very lucky that when it comes to housework my husband and I are a great team.
And it's a team where everyone plays to their strengths and mine really isn't 🧹🫧 cleaning. I leave that department to Oscar, my husband, and I myself excel more in the kitchen and laundry.
Although there are some parts of the cleaning that we have agreed I will usually do, such as cleaning the bathrooms.
Something very pleasant has happened in my life as a couple, and that is that in the beginning, when I took the initiative to sweep or mop the floor, my husband would repeat the work because I did not do it well 🤭.
From there, we agreed that each of us would do what was best for us, although in certain situations the other person could do it. For example, some dinners are prepared by Oscar because that is his speciality.
In this way we manage quite well, although I must admit that sometimes I have been very busy with studies, some urgent work or helping the children with their activities, and clothes pile up to be folded and put away, and sometimes my husband comes out to complain, but really, although I like everything to be in order, I am not afraid of mountains of clean clothes. I am afraid of dirty clothes.
The times when I have been the one to complain have more to do with a lack of communication, or expecting the other to do something without having expressed it and without taking into account that the other is not a fortune-teller.
I also remember a long time ago, in our early days when we were more immature, we used to compete to see who could leave the dishes in the sink without washing them for the longest time. I used to lose that competition because I couldn't stand to see them there. But that was a long time ago, we were just kids.
What could have been a bone of contention at one time, we have learnt to deal with, and the vision we have is that it is a shared responsibility and a matter of negotiation.
Now, when it comes to involving our teenage children in homework, we have to use many strategies and different styles because each child is different.
It has been a pleasure for me to share these domestic secrets with you, I am always surprised and motivated by the suggestions for writing in this community.
¡Aho!
I am always creating original content, any topic I write about in my blog is approached from my experience and my personal point of view "as I lived it and as I see it" unless I indicate otherwise and I will always be attentive to provide information to the community. As in this case, my blog banners were created in Adobe Express and Canva and my photographs were edited in Pixlr.
