Auroracoin

The Big Winner on Bittrex today is AuroraCoin (AUR) which started as a copy of Litecoin to be used as an Alternative to the Icelandic Krona.

Since it’s creation they have adapted much of the code from Digibyte. While not offering anything technically new the benefit of projects like this is their goal is not global adoption but adoption by a specific audience (Icelanders) to solve a specific problem (restrictions on the use of the Krona).

Bottom line for a digital asset to be worth anything it can’t just a copy with better market but one that aims to solve a clearly defined and real problem.

So while AuroraCoin isn’t solving a technical problem it is is solving a geographical and political one by focusing a niche audience that may be better served in function and user experience with a niche product.
