Pink Floyd

One of the greatest bands of all time, that is what we can say when we say Pink Floyd. The band is formed in 1965, Pink Floyd was not sorted at fist as rock band. THeir music and lyrics made them as psychedelic or space rock music, and as they evolved, they became rock music band. Thing that Pink Floys makes unordinary is their philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, cover art, and never seen before effects in live shows. The Pink Floyd have sold over 250 million albums worldwide, including 75 million units sold in the United States alone.

Because psyhodelic approach to music, band led by Syd Barrett in the late 1960s, Pink Floyd had moderate success and were one of the most popular bands in the London underground music scene until frontmen Barrett was kicked from band because his bad behaviour and forced his colleagues to replace him with great guitarist and ever better singer David Gilmoure.

After Barrett's leaving band they released a soundtrack album (More) and Ummagumma. The album was released as a double disc, the first disc containing songs performed live, the second containing new studio-recorded songs. Singer and bass player - Roger Waters slowly takes lead and became the runing power wheel of band in the mid-1970s, until his end as member in band in 1985. Pink Floyd was so successfull that almost all albums been on fisrt place on top lists in USA.
The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best-selling albums in the world but the most famous was The Wall is the highest-certified multiple-disc album by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In 1986, Waters declared Pink Floyd "a spent force" and sued to dissolve their partnership and retire the name Pink Floyd, but the remaining members, led by Gilmour, continued recording and touring under the name Pink Floyd. Following an out-of-court settlement, the band enjoyed worldwide success with last three albums.
