Practicing Sword and Tai Chi Forms with a Group
Greetings from sunny Belgrade! I thought I'll share some photos that we have taken on our recent Tai Chi class for all of you martial arts and fitness enthusiasts. Tai Chi is a practice that nurtures both the mind and body. It is very calming and meditative, it connects you to the present moment and to getting in touch with your body. Because only when fully present does this practice reveal its benefits.
You basically get out of your mind and follow way your tells you to move. Yes, we have specific forms, but they are very intuitive and after a few lessons, if you get in tune, you no longer have to think about how to perform, it is an automatic thing, like there's something pulling you.
During summer months we get out of a training room and start practicing outdoors, next to the Ada lake. Being in nature brings these classes to a whole new level. As you know, just like in yoga, breathing slowly and the air quality is important for a good Tai Chi, and the lake is a beautiful oasis of greenery.
Here we practiced a sword form as well, which one should perform faster and with intent. It's different from a standard Tai Chi but very interesting and demanding since it has a lot of squatting and explosive movements. Hope these photos convey a bit of atmosphere.
