Financial Education | Decision-making and assets as monetary resources
Decision-making is the process of identifying, evaluating and selecting the best actions, among the alternatives evaluated, to solve the problems or difficulties presented or to take advantage of opportunities.
Accordingly, theoretically, the decision-making process is a joint process that includes four main stages: awareness of the need to make a decision; structure of the situation leading to the decision; choice of alternatives; action in the direction of the chosen alternative.
Action in the field of public accounting is decisive at the time of assisting the internal control of the entity's financial resources and assets.
An asset is a resource controlled by an entity, identified, quantified in monetary terms, from which future economic benefits are reasonably expected, derived from transactions that have occurred in the past, which have economically affected the entity.
In this sense, the financial reporting standards state that an asset is controlled by an entity when it has the right to obtain for itself the future economic benefits derived from the asset and to regulate the access of third parties to such benefits, in accordance with this, all assets are controlled by a specific entity, and therefore cannot be controlled simultaneously by another entity.
