Ball-shaped Slime Mold

I found these round molds during the rainy season last December. I was combing my friend's garden at that time and found a cluster of molds growing on a rotten log, which, of course, caught my attention and prompted me to capture them.

Lycogala epidendrum, commonly known as wolf's milk or ball-shaped slime mold, is a cosmopolitan species of amoeba that mycologists have removed from the standard category of fungus. The fruiting body is a small lump resembling an overripe persimmon fruit that is orange to pink in color, they exude a kind of paste if the skin is broken when not ripe. The ripe mold will turn brown and scaly.

Oh my! The more I am here, the more interested I become in learning about them.
