Learning from a Mistake on Hive
Hey everyone 👋
I’ve been on Hive for about a year now.. While I’m not brand new , I’ll admit — there are still many features I don’t fully understand..
Recently , my curiosity got the best of me.. I wanted to know how some features actually work — especially bid bots like buildawhale..
So, without overthinking it, I went ahead and tested it out.
I wasn’t trying to cheat the system — I only used 0.5 HIVE , just to see what happens..
I thought , "What’s the harm in testing it once..?"
But the result wasn’t what I expected..
One of my posts was selected by the @curangel curation team, which made me really happy...
Until I received a comment saying they couldn’t curate it because I had used paid votes..
That small experiment — driven by curiosity — came with a consequence I didn’t realize at the time..
• What I Learned :
- Even small actions like testing a bid bot can affect your account's curation potential..
- Projects like
@curangel and
@ocd follow strict curation guidelines and do not support paid vote usage..
- Hive places more value on organic growth , genuine effort , and real community interaction than on shortcuts..
• Moving Forward
I’ve decided not to use bid bots again — no matter how small the amount..
I’ll continue building my Hive journey through honest content , consistency , and community engagement..
• For Other Hive Users Still Exploring
Even after a year here , I’m still learning..
If you're curious like me and want to explore features , that’s completely okay..
But it’s also important to understand that some tools come with unexpected trade-offs , especially when it comes to earning trust and long-term support from curators..
Thanks for reading..
I hope my little experience helps others who are still figuring things out on Hive..
We all make mistakes — but it’s how we grow that matters most...🙏
