Hello Foodies lovers !!
Today I want to share one of my mainstay dishes at home that always succeeds in making me add more rice even though it's an old date ๐Ÿ˜… - it's called "Jangan Lombok" (calm down, it doesn't mean without chili!) . It's a homemade recipe that tastes savory and spicy , and the aroma makes the neighbors come over !!

๐Ÿง„ LOVE KITCHEN INGREDIENTS :

IMG-20250615-WA0008.jpg

โ€ข1 handful of green chili peppers (ยฑ200 gr)

โ€ข2 cloves of garlic

โ€ข10 cloves shallots

โ€ข5 red chili peppers (or to taste)

โ€ข1 galangal segment (crushed)

โ€ข2 bay leaves

โ€ขยฝ tablespoon salt

โ€ข1 tsp micin (can skip if anti)

โ€ข1 stick of brown sugar

โ€ข200 gr tempeh (cut into small pieces)

โ€ข1 liter coconut milk (real coconut is better)

๐Ÿณ HOW TO COOK IT - DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY, JUST MAKE IT TASTY:

-Thinly slice the green chilies, don't be stingy!

IMG-20250615-WA0012.jpg

-Tempeh cut into small pieces, don't make it big, it will just float ๐Ÿ˜†

IMG-20250615-WA0009.jpg

-Fry red chili , garlic , shallots , and sliced green chili .. So it doesn't smell langรน ..

IMG-20250615-WA0018.jpg

IMG-20250615-WA0014.jpg

-Fry the tempeh too, but only half-cooked.

IMG-20250615-WA0011.jpg

-Grind shallots + garlic (I use a manual press to feel the effort โœŠ). The chili is just enough to be coarsely ground, so that there is still a bite sensation of chili.

IMG-20250615-WA0017.jpg

-Pour coconut milk into the pot, add all the spices + galangal + bay leaf + brown sugar + salt + micin.

IMG-20250615-WA0015.jpg

-Cook on high heat while stirring constantly, don't leave it for coffee - the coconut milk will break ๐Ÿ˜….

IMG-20250615-WA0016.jpg

-After boiling, let it sit until it's cooked, so that the marinade will blend in and release its great aroma!

๐Ÿš "JANGAN LOMBOK" IS READY TO EAT!

It's best eaten with steamed rice ,, tempeh and tofu ,, plus fresh spinach and chayote ..So complete, so simple but so delicious! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Oh yes, I apologize if the dish looks like it was made below, not on the table. Understandably, I'm currently migrating in Jakarta and living in a small rental. I don't have a lot of furniture and cooking utensils yet. But for me, that's not a reason to stop working and sharing. Instead, from this limitation, I learn to stay enthusiastic, creative, and not ashamed to show the process as it is โœจ

๐Ÿ’ฌ Let's chat!

Has anyone ever made a "no chili" too? Or have your own version? Or do you guys call it differently in your area?
Tell us in the comments! โœจ
Keep supporting local home cooking like this, so that more people are inspired to cook for themselves โค๏ธ
