Home made crabapple gin!

Have you tried it?? It's sooo gooood!
Ok, it's not crabapple season yet and I actually made this last October when the deliciously looking bright pinky red fruits were in season in the UK. But with the weather getting all sunny and springy it's definitely gin drinking time! And my wonderful home made crabapple gin is perfectly ready after sitting patiently for 5 and a half months in my cupboard.
The wait is the hardest part of making it because the recipe is ridiculously easy! The taste is fruity and sweet, with a very subtle bitterness. It's more like a gin liquor so I prefer mine on it's own, no mixer. But on a hot day it's lovely with elderflower tonic or elderflower fizz and ice or normal tonic and a wedge of lime.
Here is how to make it:

Per 1 litre of normal dry gin you need 200g caster sugar. Fill a glass jar or any other suitable container 3/4 with freshly picked and washed crabapples cut in half. Pour over an appropriate amount of sugar and pour over gin. Seal the jar tightly. For 1 week turn the jar daily, after that once per week for 2 months. After 2 months strain, discard fruit and bottle the gin and keep for another 2 months in the cupboard. And voila! ENJOY! You're welcome!
