THE STORMS HAVE PASSED
They said we were hit by two storms; Eunice and Dudley. I think we were hit by at least four storms. Before Dudley arrived, and later Eunice, we were already hit by some massive gusts of wind. Perhaps it was because I was in the countryside at the time, with fewer buildings and obstructions, so it felt a lot more powerful than it was? Who knows.
Anyhow, I managed to go for a walk today in the high winds. I was careful to stay away from parks or areas with many trees. However it seems not even the high street was safe today. I saw quite a bit of damage in my neighbourhood with bits of brick and roof tiles all over the streets. Apart from the financial implications to the home owners, the danger posed by flying bricks and tiles was quite significant. I hope nobody was harmed by one of these. I'm quite sure some cars had their windscreens broken and body scratched by the flying debris.
Talking of cars, I found it hilarious to see that the parking attendants had been out during the storm ticketing cars illegally parked along the roads. It was even more funny to see the parking tickets being blown off the cars since they were just held down by the windscreen wipers. Legally, if the driver never sees the ticket (for whatever reason) it's not enforceable. I wonder how this is going to play out in the coming days when these drivers suddenly receive PCNs through their doors, and they'd have no idea they'd been ticketed.
At the point of typing this, it's all gone quiet, so I assume the storm is over. Hopefully we get some calmer, less turbulent days ahead.
Now if only Putin and Co can could just sit down and resolve their conflict amicably, that'd be super. London is a little too close to the action for my liking.
Peace & Love,
Adé
