Devon Delights: Liketu & Labyrinth

This is my first post on Liketu and I'm interested in how it all works. I've got a t-shirt from them from HiveFest (although I may have gone a size too small) so only fair I check it out properly…

There have been a few attempts at this type of app and I'm curious as to if it takes off (I hope so!). There was Appics (is that still a thing somewhere?), and anyone remember Steepshot (I think) from the Steem days? There are always debates about this style of Insta or Twitter style app (ie. generally short posts) appearing as a top level blog post, but I guess it doesn't matter. People will derive value or not, act accordingly and move on.

It seems you can write a full article with Liketu anyway, so you have the option of just a picture and a few words, or bashing out a whole article and simply using it as a different front end. Time will tell I guess, and different strokes for different folks.

Anyway, these pics above are from a recent visit to my home county in England - Devon. It's from a town just up the road from mine and I had a little day out there with my dad during the summer. My uncle and aunt were also in tow initially but they headed off after a coffee to do some shopping and whatnot. My dad and I went for a wander, and came across this set up. Well, he knew it was there, but it was news to me and there's a whole new world up on that hill.

This was some sort of labyrinth in a field, a maze of sorts you could call it (although different in the sense you can't get lost). You're supposed to wander around it, be present, take it all in, contemplate and the like. It should (or could) be a meditative experience, perhaps even spiritual for some and assist you in your life's quest. You can see it as a whole in the pics, with a couple of information boards - one with details of the life-size version and the other with an oak 'finger labyrinth' and instructions on how to use it.

Also nearby there were all types of historical information points dotted around taking you on a journey through our history (as in humans from sea life to modern man) and many of the events and ages we've been through. I didn't get pics of any of that but it's all very interesting and educational. You could spend a bit of time up there, both relaxing and learning.

It did help that it was a gorgeous day. Sun was out but not too hot, bit of breeze around and a discovery of a mystery land right on our doorstep. After a bit more of a walk along the seafront and into town itself, we spied a local watering hole. It didn't take much encouragement on either side to decide to pop in the pub for a light ale. I can't remember the beer at this point, but we had 2 nice pints in their garden before getting the bus back.

An interesting few hours out exploring and taking in some of our local surroundings. Do you have something like this where you are? And are you using this Liketu app? Do you Likeit? ;)
