CROP Holding Power Leaderboard

I checked the leaderboard for holding rewards for the top 10 players of the game and below are my findings.

Disclaimer: The data was taken 1/11/2024 9PM GMT +8. Not that this matters but it gives me more words on the post. The actual holding power is computed from a 15-day average so these stats don't necessarily reflect the actual amount of CROP tokens on the account, just the 15 day average value of holding those tokens. The CROP:SWAP.HIVE liquidity values mentioned are 2.25x from actual amount which inflates their stats more than what the account currently owns in CROP. I don't think all the details here are accurate because I don't have the technical knowledge to query the blockchain and only use data available from the website's leaderboard page.

The top 10 accounts:

  1. seeyouinlumb
  2. judgesilver
  3. mengao
  4. hermes.apocrypha
  5. skybreaker
  6. forsakensushi
  7. scriptkittie
  8. dagger212
  9. steentijd
  10. swaxi

Note: I said accounts because it's possible some are just alts.

I wanted to know where does the top 10 get most of their CROP power from. These accounts have a total of 36,310,645.3 CROP power.

The pooled CROP holding power comes from:

Card Collection

Computed from your NFTs CROP power value based from this post

Rarity of NFTCROP Power
Common:3 CROP
Rare:5 CROP
Epic:10 CROP
Legendary:50 CROP

CROP tokens

CROP tokens you held at 1:1 for an average of 15 days.

ALPHA and BETA Packs

Each pack has a 2000 CROP power value.

Harvested Crops

Only 3 star crops are counted. See post

Crop RarityHolding Power
Common0.25 Points
Rare0.5 Points
Epic0.75 Points
Legendary1 Point

Liquidity Pools

Computed as CROP held for 15 day average with bonus 2.25x per CROP as explained here

Here's crappy pie chart consisting of the sources of Holding Power the top 10 CROP holders put together.

CROP distribution.png

CategoryHolding Power%
Card Collection313,856.30.864%
CROP Tokens3,001,518.358.266%
ALPHA Packs10,467,066.6728.826%
BETA Packs10,387,466.6728.607%
Harvested Crops2376.850.006%
Liquidity Pool12138360.4333.429%

This only shows the active CROP power on a 15 day average. CROP tokens, cards, harvested crops could have already been sold and packs may have already been opened within the 15 day period. You'll also notice the liquidity pools take up a large portion but the close value would be -120% less due to CROP held in this manner gives a 2.25x to the holder.

Harvested crops and card collection barely makes an appearance in the chart.

Whales / Landlords in the game hold their leaderboard position by:

  1. Liquidity Pools
  2. Holding unopened packs
  3. Holding CROP tokens.

You can see that Harvested crops and card collection (closely related to the size of the player's farm) contribute little to the active CROP power.

Players that want to make the most bang for their buck in getting Hive Airdrops outside purchasing more packs, opting to add more into the liquidity pools gets you double the value of Hive airdrops received rather than keeping CROP in your wallet.

Packs and CROP in liquidity pool count as CROP tokens not in our sense of conventional circulation because CROP tokens are awarded to the end of season's farmers that produced shares. Whenever someone buys a pack from the shop, 2000 CROP power is introduced into the circulation and removed if opened.

To maximize one's Hive earning potential based from CROP holding power, it's better off not to open the packs and lose 2000 CROP power than gamble for card collections with legendary cards valued at 50 CROP points in collection. Putting CROP into a liquidity pool with the existing 2.25x bonus gives more edge to the Hive reward pool compared to players relying on card collection, holding 3 star harvested crops and CROP tokens on their wallet.

By design, if the goal was to maximize profit from the game, it's better off not playing the actual game and just leave your packs unopened if passive income was the end goal. The ones losing out from the reward pool are players that actively play the game. However, this passive style to "investing" cuts one's opportunities to access other in-game rewards during special events like limited edition season NFTs and promo packs.

As long as the game doesn't introduce content that makes it more fun and lucrative for players to be active in the farming scene, the meta to hold unopened packs and putting CROP into liquidity pools will remain the optimal choice if profit was the main motive.

One could argue the speculative value of limited edition NFTs and this and that but the value of NFTs you're holding will be as good as the available buyer bid at the time when you want to sell. Who cares about the market value of the item if you're in a hurry for funds at the time you need to make an exit the most. This is why having a large collection of cards isn't really as amazing as one might think because it's going to be hard to dispose of them at once without incurring some losses in the short term.

I post random shitposts so if you're thinking of following me on this account, understand dCrops is just a flavor of the day and not my niche content. Nobody asked, but I'm on the 11th spot at the time of this writing.

Thank you for your time.
