These last few weeks the Popocatépetl volcano has been quite active, for some strange reason during winter and spring it seems to fill up with energy, so practically every day it is making exhalations that fill the towns and cities near it with ash, which is not very pleasant when you suffer from allergic rhinitis, as I do. However, those same exhalations provide us with wonderful views and remind us of the majesty of our beloved "smoking mountain".

On my hike today to the "Cerro de San Miguel" I was finally able to catch one of those exhalations. Although it was not the most spectacular I have seen, I was able to photograph it almost from the moment it originated, until the beginning of the ash dispersion. It is truly a privilege for me to be able to contemplate how incredible an active volcano is, almost in all its splendour. For those who are wondering, these exhalations are not dangerous, you just have to be careful of the ash because it can affect the respiratory system, but that is only when a lot of it falls, which fortunately has not happened for some time now.

Today, unlike other days, I went for a walk much earlier, which allowed me to enjoy a sun that had just been born. That, together with the wonderful view of the volcano and the town, were the best way to start the day.

Ceniza y luz
