Gold Watch and Chain | Ormidale, Arran Folk Festival, June 2009
I just found this on my hard drive. This is the inimitable John Maclean with Donal on fiddle and me on mandolin at the Ormidale Hotel in Brodick during the Arran Folk Festival week.
John died the following year, so it was a really nice surprise to find this video.
We got together that year as The Saggy Bottom Boys, so that we could support Lúnasa at Whiting Bay Hall. I had just got my mandolin and was quite new to it. I've since sold it to get the deposit for my Kim Walker guitar, so it was a bitter-sweet sale. I haven't played mandolin since.
Rest in peace, John.
