How do I move with my stamps?

Intro.jpg

Yesterday I commented to denmarkguyHive account@denmarkguy, that I liked his post that dealt with the values that postage stamps have for all collectors; and one of the aspects that I expressed to him, is that they reflect the different stages of technological development and inventiveness, made by man.

That is what this post is about, the postage stamps in my collection, which reflect the main means of transportation created.

Since I was a teenager I have kept these stamps that I bought with great excitement. It is something that I preserve and when I see it, it brings back beautiful memories of a time in Cuba, where with less money we could have access to a variety of quality and historically important articles.

For a better division, I will start with the aerial means, then the terrestrial ones, to finish with the aquatic ones.

Air transportation means:

From the first flight record in history in 1903, aboard a propeller plane of the Wright brothers; passing in 1939 by the Vought-Sikorsky helicopter and the Heinkel He 178 jet plane, to the present day, man has reflected his different means of transportation through postage stamps.

It was a way to bring to the sight of many and in a light, small and portable size, the world advances that marked great relevance.

Here you can see a propeller plane and a more modern twin-engine of Soviet manufacture, the Tu-134. I had the pleasure of riding in a similar model during my childhood and even had an experience I will never forget during a trip to Poland from Havana, without my parents. My mother was waiting for me in Warsaw.

I remember going into the bathroom, I was able to operate the revolving lock on the door but could not open it, I did not have enough strength to turn it in the opposite direction. That created an unforeseen situation on the plane. There were people knocking on the door and desperation reigned. I didn't know any English to communicate with those who were talking to me from outside. Finally, they had to force the door with an axe until I could get out.

Means of land transportation:

The first steam car was manufactured 255 years ago by a French engineer. Since then, thousands of models and new developments have been created to facilitate man's daily life in his environment.

Trains could not be missing in this collection. The first railroad that ran in the world was in Great Britain, in 1825.

Aquatic means of transportation:

In the year 1787, the steamboat was built, giving way to the diesel-powered engine in 1903. Today, the advances that move in this liquid medium range from small and light objects to large aircraft carriers, military submarines to those huge tourist cruise ships.

Since ancient times, man has traveled in animal-drawn carriages, made ships from the wood of trees. Then he created the various means of transportation that I present to you today with my stamps. For this very reason, I now answer the question of my title:

How do I move with my stamps?

I, like all the people who like to collect postage stamps, have another means of transportation every time we see the image and details written on them.

We do it through ancestral historical memory, through that mental movie that is presented to us, to recreate the evolution of man-made means of transportation, and that we enjoy every time we have in front of our eyes these beautiful and simple miniatures on paper.

Thanks to those who read me. I wish you a good Wednesday.
