This example of a web page structure is part of my “Introduction to WordPress Content Writing” course. So you will learn about some components of a web page. And how they are controlled by different roles in your website management team.
But for better understanding, you should complete the whole course. Because that puts this lesson in context. Then you understand how to work with technicians and other writers.
Technical Web Page Structure
Historically, websites evolved from computer departments. Though marketing departments now have the final say in most organizations. So we can see these influences in typical website layouts.
Most websites have a desktop layout similar to this. Where we see most space allotted to technical content. But mobile viewing is changing this. So Sidebars are appearing less.
As a technician, I look after navigation, header content, footer content, and sidebar layout. Which leaves Article Content for writers like you.
Note that in very small organizations there is often only one person who must adopt writing and technical roles. But for security reasons, that person needs to have separate user logins for each role.
Writers Web Page Structure
Through this course, you learn how to write and edit articles. Then these become the content that people come to read. So your content is always the most important part of any website.
Be aware that WordPress is a tool for technicians and writers. So it’s good that we are all working together. But it can be overwhelming to see all these different parts of the web page.
Always remember that you are part of a team. Where other people will handle the technical aspects of your website. So you can focus on writing great articles.
Web Page Structure Summary
You have learned how different components on a web page are controlled by different team members. But you don’t need to learn technical jobs to be a good writer.
